The Best Beaches Near Paradise Lodge Costa Rica
Discover Your Own Robinson Crusoe Paradise
One of the greatest treasures of Costa Rica’s Southern Pacific coast is something that many visitors don’t expect:
Space.
Miles of pristine beaches, untouched rainforest, and the feeling that you have the entire Pacific coastline almost to yourself.
Unlike many famous beach destinations around the world, the beaches near Paradise Lodge Costa Rica are rarely crowded. You can walk for kilometers without meeting another person, listen only to the sound of the waves, and experience that wonderful “Robinson Crusoe” feeling that has become increasingly rare.
Each beach has its own personality—but they all share one thing in common: breathtaking natural beauty.
The Pacific Is Warm All Year Round
The Pacific Ocean along Costa Rica’s Southern Pacific coast remains pleasantly warm throughout the year, with water temperatures between 26°C and 30°C (79°F–86°F).
Whether you want to swim, body surf, or simply cool off after a long beach walk, the ocean is inviting in every season.
Come Prepared
Many of these beaches are wonderfully untouched and offer few or no services.
For the perfect beach day, we recommend bringing:
- Plenty of drinking water
- Snacks or a picnic
- A cooler box for food and cold drinks
- Sunscreen
- A hat
- Your camera—you’ll need it!
The lack of commercial development is exactly what makes these beaches so special.
A Few Important Safety Tips
Respect the Ocean
The Pacific is beautiful but powerful. Some beaches can experience strong rip currents, which are often difficult to recognize from shore. Always observe local conditions before swimming and never underestimate the ocean.
Don’t Leave Valuables Unattended
Even though these beaches often feel deserted, avoid leaving phones, cameras, wallets, or other valuables unattended while swimming or taking long walks.
Watch Out for Falling Coconuts
The coconut palms provide wonderful shade, but nature occasionally has its surprises. It’s best not to sit or park directly underneath heavily loaded trees. Falling coconuts are heavier than they look!
Playa Dominicalito – Small, Peaceful and Beautiful
Only about 25 minutes from Paradise Lodge, Playa Dominicalito is a quiet tropical beach that perfectly captures the relaxed atmosphere of Costa Rica.
Gentle waves, beautiful scenery, and easy access make it ideal for families, couples, or anyone seeking a peaceful day by the ocean.
A major advantage is that you can drive directly to the beach and park your car almost next to your towel. Also, If you get hungry after a swim or a long beach walk, some simple beachfront snack bars invite you to sit in the shade and enjoy a cold coconut, fresh juices, and traditional Costa Rican dishes.
If you’re interested in surfing, Playa Dominicalito is an excellent choice. Its reliable waves and relaxed atmosphere make it one of the best beaches in the area for beginners and intermediate surfers.

The beach itself is spectacular—but its most famous feature is the dramatic natural rock arch that gave the beach its name.
